Bubbles....Bubbles....Bubbles....

If I had to make a top 10 list of my favorite things, bubbly would be on it.  Otherwise known as Champagne, sparkling wine etc.  Heck!  Even sparkling water is on my list.  I. LOVE. BUBBLES.  I would make a great rich lady!  Hahaha.  I would drink a little bubbly for every occasion if I could and mix and match it in every cocktail recipe I have.  So, all that being said, even if bubbles aren't on YOUR top 10 list, you're still gonna need a bottle or two around this NYE.  Here are a few suggestions from a bubbly connoisseur :)

My personal fave, having been to Italy a few times, is Prosecco.  8 years ago when I came home from Italy and told everyone here about Prosecco, virtually NO ONE had ever heard of it, and you would almost NEVER see it on any menu in any restaurant.  Now, you see it every where and I love it!  I can't wait to see what new brands they're offering here in the states.  Granted, it tastes a little different standing on a hillside in the Veneto region getting a first hand tasting from the owner of a vineyard :)  But, whoa is me I'll take what I can get!  Haha.  My favorite Prosecco that's sold here in the states is ZARDETTO PROSECCO.  It is made in the region, heck the vineyard "neighborhood" my in-laws lived in and it's inexpensive and delish!  Sparkling wines are the way to go when trying to get that Champagne feel for a third of the price!  And to be honest, sometimes they're even tastier than the pricey stuff ;)

CAVA is another favorite of mine.  It is also a sparkling wine, but it's made in Spain. It's very similar to Prosecco in that it's light, refreshing and inexpensive.  I love this MONT MARCAL BRUT CAVA SPARKLING WINE, at around $15 a bottle it's a steal!  It really is a great alternative to champagne and you'll love ringing in the New Year with a glass of this in hand :)

As many of you know, it's not Champagne unless it's made in France. As a wedding planner I get to participate in quite a few wine tastings and champagne is usually included in those tastings.  And of all the champagnes in all of France (and I've tasted a few, that's for sure) VEUVE CLICQUOT BRUT YELLOW LABEL is my favorite.  It's not cheap, but not necessarily at the highest price point either.  It's got a rich but light and refreshing flavor and makes the best Champagne Cocktails with sugar and bitters...I'll post that recipe someday soon!   This would be an impressive addition to any NYE celebration, for sure.  Run out and get a bottle now!  They'll sell out fast.
