We've officially begun the party going season! Whether it's a small holiday dinner party with friends or a festive bash at your boss's house, it's ALWAYS appropriate to bring a little something to the host or hostess. My mom called today to get some ideas on what to bring to a holiday party she'll be attending this Sunday and it got me thinking.....why bring wine? Think outside of the box! Here are a few ideas that will insure you're an A+ guest :)
Every host or hostess will adore the scent of this WoodWick "Frasier Fir" scented Candle. It's light aroma will fill their house with a subtle scent of the holiday. Locally you can purchase the WoodWick brand candles at Target and Ulta. Added bonus--- a WoodWick candle will last FOREVER, perhaps through the next holiday season!
Candy is ALWAYS a crowd-pleaser, but don't go with your average box of candy, swing by Macy's and pick up these Sea Salt Caramels. They are very tasty and really unique. The sea salt and chocolate/caramel combination is to die for! And at only $9.99 they can't be beat. :)
What a great way to thank your host or hostess by bringing them a lovely assortment of luxury hand soaps that they can adorn their bathroom and kitchen with. Kiehls has amazing bath and body products that will have your party thrower singing your praises for weeks to come!
Oprah featured these Willams-Sonoma Mini Croissants on her "Favorite Things" show recently and I was lucky enough to get to try them in one of their stores last week. Wow, does Oprah know what she's talking about. They were incredible. Light, airy, fluffy and buttery...everything a croissant should be and more. You cannot purchase these in stores from what I understand, so get a jump start before the big bash and order yours now. They'll keep in the freezer until you have to gift them to your designated host or hostess :)
Maybe you don't have time to hop online and order anything...here's an alternative. Nowadays there's a Panera on every corner! Swing by and pick up a nice Raisin Bread or a dozen bagels and some flavored cream cheese. Any hostess could use a breakfast pick-me-up the morning after a big fiesta. This couldn't be more thoughtful and shows that you know how tiring it can be to throw a party. I know I never think about what to grab for myself the next morning to help me get over my "hostess hangover" ;) This will be a hit!
Perhaps your host or hostess is enduring your stay for more than just a night, maybe you're more of a long term guest who'll be sticking around through the New Year? Even though you've been sleeping on a leaky air mattress and sharing a bathroom with 16 adults and 12 children, your hosts have been suffering right along with ya ;) Be sure to show your appreciation for all that free lodging by really treating them to something special. A dinner out at a local bistro, a couples massage, or my personal favorite, a gift certificate to a local Play House/Theater. Here in the Michigan area I love the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, owned by Jeff Daniels. Your host or hostess will really feel appreciated if you think a wee bit outside of the box when it comes to thanking them for their hospitality.....or should I say, Housepitality? ;)
